Mr. Albright’s Classes

Voice of a Generation is a non-audition ensemble for students who are interested in the art of vocal performance.  Individual performance skills will be enhanced with various studies in vocal production and introductory improvisational skills. Sight singing and notation will be introduced.  Music representing a broad variety of historical eras and cultures will be rehearsed, performed and analyzed for esthetic and social significance, gaining musical perspectives.  Students will be taught a working knowledge of basic music history. ***First Semester:  2nd period; Second Semester: 3rd period

 Simply Irresistible is a show choir ensemble.  Students are highly selected through auditions.  This ensemble provides a musical challenge to students with greater than average talent and interests. Repertoire will include, but not limited to, jazz and popular styles.  Sacred and secular choral works will be rehearsed and performed in the class to emphasize proper singing techniques.  Students learn to integrate good vocal technique with dance/movement.  These groups have a very active performing schedule and offer leadership opportunities for conductors, choreographers, etc.  Students can earn MCPS Student Service Learning hours if applicable.  Two consecutive semesters required for eligibility for this class.  ***After-School (typically Thursdays)

Jazz Ambassadors is an audition only ensemble.  Emphasis is on continuing development of vocal technique.  Repertoire includes, but not limited to, challenging jazz vocal music repertoire.  A number of performances will be given in school and within the community.  Students can earn MCPS Student Service Learning hours if applicable.  ***First Semester: 6th period; Second semester: 6th period

Showstoppers is an honors show choir ensemble.  Students are highly selected through auditions and must have been in previous choirs at Churchill. This ensemble provides a musical challenge to students with greater than average talent and interests.  Repertoire will include, but not limited to, jazz and popular styles.  Sacred and secular choral works will be rehearsed and performed in the class to emphasize proper singing techniques.  Students learn to integrate good vocal technique with dance/movement.  These groups have a very active performing schedule and offer leadership opportunities for conductors, choreographers, etc.  Students can earn MCPS Student Service Learning hours if applicable.  Two consecutive semesters required for eligibility for this class.  Individual independent study projects will be expected from each student per semester.  These projects are performance based with supporting research. ***First Semester: 7th period; Second Semester:  8th period
